With Wen Hui in Nanjing Workshop on January 20, 2020

With a fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council, I visited Wen Hui in Beijing for the month of January 2020.This duet with Wen Hui was a part of a Delicious Movement Workshop in Nanjing on January 20, 2020. I enjoyed improvising with her while teaching.

It was that night that Wen Hui and I found out how fast Covid-19 was spreading not only in Wuhan but in other areas of China. With the pandemic that followed, I had to switch to teaching over Zoom. Therefore, this workshop and the other in Beijing became the only two I taught in person and in a studio. Doing so with Wen Hui and in China makes it particularly memorable for me.

We travelled together until the rise of the Covid-19 cases in China forced me to cut my scheduled stay by several days and leave China suddenly from her hometown of Kunming.
