A Body with California Landscapes (2019)

Eiko performs within her video installation in a gallery at Alfred University, NY. Three projections show composed sequences of the vast landscapes of Death Valley and Sequoia National Park. Eiko moves in dialogue with both the landscape and her filmed self.

This experimentation made Eiko first imagine developing this project for the larger public. She wishes that a similar projection be made on a much bigger scale in a public space where many people in their everyday lives could encounter her video and her performing-self.

California footage was filmed by Alexis Moh during the travel supported by CAP UCLA. This performance footage was filmed by Rebekkah Palov during Eiko's creative residency at IEA (Institute for Electronic Arts, Alfred University).
